About the USMCA
USMCA covers three countries and nearly the whole of the North American landmass, which makes it the most compact membership map on this site and the one where the globe projection is most worth looking at: shaded on a sphere, the bloc runs from the Arctic Ocean to Guatemala across some 150 degrees of longitude.
The agreement entered into force on 1 July 2020, replacing the North American Free Trade Agreement that had governed the same three economies since 1994. Its substantive changes concerned automotive rules of origin, labour standards enforcement in Mexico, digital trade and dairy market access.
One provision has no parallel in other trade blocs and is worth knowing when reading this map: a sunset clause terminating the agreement after sixteen years unless all three parties confirm it, with a joint review every six years. The first of those reviews falls in 2026.

Using these maps
All four downloads are free for personal, classroom, academic and editorial use — a school project, a lecture slide, a blog post, a news graphic. Boundaries come from Natural Earth, which is public domain. The satellite, street and terrain versions are drawn over Esri basemap imagery, credited in the corner of each image; keep that credit visible when you reuse them.
Please keep the "September 2026" date on the map. Membership changes, and a membership map without a date is the single most common way an out-of-date roster ends up being republished as current.
Questions about USMCA membership
Which countries are in USMCA?
Canada, Mexico and the United States — the same three countries that were in NAFTA.
Is USMCA the same as NAFTA?
It replaced NAFTA on 1 July 2020 with the same membership but revised terms, notably on automotive rules of origin, labour enforcement and digital trade.
Does USMCA include any Central American countries?
No. It is strictly trilateral. Central American states trade with the US under the separate CAFTA-DR agreement, which is not shown on this map.
